2017 Driver Summary
We started our winter racing series in 1976. This was our 33rd year that we held an organized winter racing seasons adding up to 490 events. We did not have organized racing for 8 years, 1993 to 2000. In 2001 we switch from previous copying cars with dirt modified bodies to cars with NASCAR type bodies. Over 400 different drivers have competed at Frogg Ocean Speedway. We just completed the 17th year of racing Champion Turbo Flex chassis cars and NASCAR type bodies. This year we had 46 drivers race at least one time during the year. This was also the eleventh year that we have raced using the Trakmate computer system. During the racing season our drivers are divided into three racing groups based on their experience and historic performance. Notice I did not say age. Some of our younger drivers are very good and can compete with the adults. Our three racing groups are the Jr. Division. This group is the entrée level for usually the younger or least experienced drivers. The Amateur Division consists of drivers who are fast but haven’t consistently turned the number of laps needed to race competitively with the Pro Division Group. The Pro Division drivers are drivers with the most experience and knowledge about slot car racing. Many have also proven themselves with several wins in the lower divisions.
